Invitation

Introduction to Our Laboratory

We primarily focus on research in Computer Graphics, specializing in physics-based animation, shape modeling, and digital geometry processing. Prospective undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students, as well as postdocs, are welcome to reach out to us.

Please refer to the detailed research themes available here.

How to Become Members of Our Lab (for International Students)

The typical procedure is to participate in the entrance examination of our graduate school (for the master’s or doctoral program). We believe that the following website will be very useful for obtaining information regarding admissions.

Admissions for International Research Students (Graduate School of Arts and Sciences) (in Japanese)

Research Students

Currently, our laboratory is not accepting research students other than government-sponsored (such as MEXT) international students.

Research Students (MEXT Scholarship)

Please refer to the following website. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

CAUTION: The Research Student Program primarily prepares students for master’s and doctoral course entrance examinations. Research students cannot earn credits or receive degrees. They must obtain prior approval from the instructors of the courses they wish to audit. However, they are eligible to participate in various Japanese language training programs held on the Komaba/Hongo campus.

Undergraduate Students (Fourth Year)

Our lab belongs to the Department of Interdisciplinary Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences. To become a member of our lab as a bachelor student, you must be enrolled in our department. Typically, lab assignments are determined at the beginning of February.

Graduate Students (Master’s Program)

To become a member of our lab as a master’s course student, you must pass the entrance examination:

Graduate School of Arts and Sciences/Department of General System Studies
Entrance examination: http://www.c.u-tokyo.ac.jp/graduate/admission/master-doctor/ (in Japanese)
Guidance: http://system.c.u-tokyo.ac.jp/p-graduate/guide.html (in Japanese)

Please be sure to contact us by sending an email or visiting our lab in advance, if you are willing to take an exam.

CAUTION: Currently, Japanese language skills are necessary for our master’s course.

Graduate Students (Doctoral Program)

The submission deadline for applicants from outside of our department is in late June (for fall admission) or late December (for spring admission). The entrance examination, held at the end of July (for fall admission) or the beginning of February (for spring admission), consists of an interview, including a presentation focusing mainly on the content of the master’s thesis and the research plan for the doctoral course, as well as an English paper test (native speakers may be exempted).

For more details, please see here and here (in Japanese).
